Qualifying period ends for town election

The qualifying period for the Towns of Ackerman, French and Weir
elections has ended. Sixteen people have returned qualifying papers
among the three towns.
The election for Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the towns of
Ackerman, French Camp and Weir will be June 4.

The list of candidates that that turned in their qualifying papers
for the Town of Ackerman is:
Mayor-Dick Cain (incumbent); Dale Reid (currently serves as Ward 4
alderman)
Ward 1 Alderman-Willie Miller (incumbent)
Ward 3 Alderman-George Rooks (incumbent)
Ward 4 Alderman-Lynn Scribner, Billy Gannan
Alderman at Large-Carl “Barney” Phelps

In French Camp, all but one board member turned in their qualifying
papers. Alderman Terry Goins is not seeking re-election. Since no one
has any opposition, a election will not be required.

The list of candidates that that turned in their qualifying papers
for the Town of French Camp is:
Mayor-H. Glen Barlow (incumbent)
Mayor Pro Tem (also serves as alderman)-Becky Rogers (incumbent)
Alderpersons: Peter Pendleton, Rebecca Stevens, Jennifer Morgan (all
incumbents) and Jan Henderson

The Town of Weir had six people turn in qualifying papers along with
one for mayor. An election will be held to determine who the five
aldermen will be.
The list of candidates that that turned in their qualifying papers
for the Town of Weir is:
Mayor-Lee James (incumbent)
Aldermen (5 seats)-Clara Hemphill, Floyd Patterson, Jeff McKnight,
Lenore Gladney, Doug Atkinson (all incumbents) and Eleanor Harrel.
