Master Gardner training classes Register Jan. 25 Master Gardener Certification training classes will begin in February. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1–5 pm February 12 through March 19. The final exam is take home, open book and participants may work on it by themselves or together. Cost is $85 which includes training notebook and materials, one year membership in the Mississippi Master Gardener Association and refreshments. The Master Gardener program is an Extension public service program. Registration fee and application are due at the Choctaw County Extension Office by January 25, 2013. FCA Ladies Retreat Jan. 25-26 French Camp Academy is excited to welcome internationally known author and speaker, Rachael Crabb, to the 2013 Ladies’ Retreat. Rachael is married to renowned psychologist and author Dr. Larry Crabb. Open House at Pioneer Medical Jan. 29 The staff of Pioneer Community Hospital invites the public to an Open House to celebrate the opening of our newest clinic, Pioneer Medical Center on January 29 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. The clinic is located at 8613 Hwy 12 in Ackerman. 21st Annual Sweetheart Pageant registration Feb. 19 The 21st Annual Sweetheart Pageant practice and registration will be held February 19 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at Weir Attendance Center. Registration forms may be picked up at Leonard’s 3-Way, French Camp Elementary, WAC, Sunflower, “I Can” Child Care Learning Center, Main Street Fabric, Ackerman Elementary, Ackerman High School and Prewitt Photography. Love Harvest Program Feb. 23 True Restoration Christian Church, of Sturgis, is sponsoring a Love Harvest Program on February 23 at 3 p.m. at the Choctaw County Community Center. The speaker for this event will be Rev. Burkey Thompson, pastor of Macedonia M.B.C., of Sallis. There will be choirs and guest soloists on this program. Dinner will be served at a donation of $10.50 per plate. Dinner will consist of steak or chicken, baked potato, green beans, salad, dessert and drink.
