Mrs. Ruby Mae Lane Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Mae Lane, 75, were held 11:00 a.m., Saturday Dec. 1, 2012 at Faith Unity U.M. Church. Rev. Ronald Jefferson officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery.

A resident of Ackerman, MS. Mrs. Lane passed away Friday November 23, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Columbus, MS. She was born Feb. 27, 1937 in Ackerman, MS.

Survivors include husband, John Lane; sons, John Lane, Jr., Dennis Lane and Ty Lane; 5 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Billy D. McClure

Funeral services for Billy D. McClure of Winona, formerly of Corinth, were at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, at First Baptist Church in Winona, with Dr. Chris Aldridge, Rev. T. R. Darsey officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery at Ackerman, with military honors. Visitation was Tuesday, November 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.

Mr. McClure died of heart failure at University Medical Center in Jackson on Sunday, November 25. He was 84 years old.

Mr. McClure was the son of the late Ethel and Christine Weatherall McClure. He was a retired FHA agent and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked in insurance sales prior to working with the FHA. He was a former member of Tate Baptist Church in Corinth, where he served as deacon chairman and Sunday School teacher and was active with the youth. He always showed a sense of humor and was an avid fisherman and bird hunter and enjoyed playing tennis. Mr. McClure was a former quarterback for Holmes Junior College in 1949 and 1950. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona, where he was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy W. McClure; sisters, Peggy McClure and Nell King; brother, Reggie McClure; and stepdaughter, Patti Michelle Finley.

Survivors include his wife, Sammie L. Woods McClure of Winona; daughter, Donna Gail Hallmark (John) of Tupelo; sons, Jerry Donald McClure (Kathy) of Allison Park, PA, and Charles Steven McClure (Connie) of Millington, TN; stepson, Bruce Mitchell of Winona; sisters, Kay Wever of Yazoo City, Brenda Wise (Dan) of Ackerman, Linda Tharp (Ben) of Ackerman, Nita Connell (Jack) of Ackerman; brothers, Robert L. McClure (Nancy) of Springdale, AR, and James McClure (Drexel) of Ackerman; four grandchildren, Allison Marsh of Allison Park, PA, Chris Hallmark of Raleigh, NC, Taylor Hallmark of Jackson, Yvonne Moody of Oxford; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Ricks and special friend, Monica Torres, of Flowood and Trent Ricks of Starkville; four great-grandchildren, Cecily Marsh and Josias Marsh of Allison Park, PA, and Swayze Moody and Tanner Moody of Oxford; son- in-law, Dr. Bill Finley of Winona; sisters-in-law, Christine Box of Eupora, Evon Austin of Winona, Joy Ellis of Winona, and Ruth Blaylock (Benny) of Winona; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Kirk Wise, Rev. Doug Wise, Glen Jackson, Larry McClure, Trent Ricks, Taylor Hallmark; honorary pallbears will be the First Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School class.
