Photos with Santa Claus, musical performances, Christmas trees and ice cream are only a few of the events planned for the annual Holiday Open House on December 13.
The MSU Extension Service-Choctaw County and the Choctaw County Library, both sponsors, encourage everyone to come out and enjoy an afternoon full of free activities.
The Holiday Open House will be Thursday, December 13 from 2:30 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Choctaw County Library in Ackerman.
Events taking place all afternoon include photos with Santa Claus (bring your own camera), Make & Take Crafts for kids, Festival of Trees, MSU ice cream, pottery demonstration by “The Potter’s Hand,” Pack-the-Trailer food drive and recipes, goodie bags and door prizes to be given away.
The Festival of Trees is Christmas trees decorated by local groups, organization and individuals. There is still time to reserve a spot for your Christmas tree.
Pack-the-Trailer event is part of the WTVA Food for Families Food Drive sponsored by the Choctaw County MSU Extension Office. All non- perishable items donated will help restock the Broken Wings Food Pantry that helps Choctaw County citizens. Bring non-perishable food items and help us fill a 12’ food trailer of food for Broken Wings.
More activities will be taking place at the Holiday Open House begin at 3 p.m. with a Children’s Christmas music performance by Lee Ann Williamson and Lori Smith of Christian World Missions.
At 3:30 p.m. Whitney White, local author, will read her new children’s book, “Don’t Swallow the Baby Jesus.” Musical selections by Lilli and Ada Fulgham will take place at 4:30 p.m. then at 5:30 p.m. Williamson and Smith will perform Christmas music. All events are free of charge.
