Christmas Parade t-shirts on sale Deadline November 7 If you would like to purchase a Christmas Parade t-shirt, please contact a Ackerman 20th Century Club member. Photography program offered Nov. 8 Exploring Photography will provide beginning tips and techniques for creating better photographs. Instruction will provide some basic rules of composition and design, how to make photographs of awards presentations, photographing groups and more. Scott Corey, Photographer, Office of Agricultural Communications at MSU, will present the program November 8 from 12- 1 pm via interactive video at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Benefit set for David Edwards Nov. 10 There will be a benefit for David Edwards (Chief Deputy Winston County) to help with expense for a liver transplant on November 10 from 12-6pm at the Louisville Coliseum, Ivy Avenue. Live music and singing, jumpers for the kids, face painting, buggy rides, womanless beauty review, cake auction, bbq plates, bbq sandwiches, hotdogs, chicken plates, popcorn, drinks. Full Circle Knitting/Crochet Group Nov. 13 ONLY Full Circle Knitting/Crochet group USUALLY meets every Tuesday morning from 9 a.m.-noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office in the Courthouse Annex. On November 13th, group members, plus anyone else who would like to participate, will start the day in French Camp knitting/crocheting in public! Members will work on projects from 9-11 am in the area of the Council House or Gift Shop. Just look or listen for clicking needles. Next will be a Dutch treat lunch at the Council House Café in French Camp. Finally, some of the group will be going to the Choctaw County Nursing Center in Ackerman to help residents make flowers out of recycled plastic bags, from 1:30-2:30. Our speaker is Carol Cannon, the wife of French Camp Academy’s former President Rich Cannon. Yarn Spinners Book Club Dec. 4 Yarn Spinners Book Club meets at the Choctaw County Extension Office at 10:30-12:00 on the 1st Tuesday of each month. Participants take turns choosing which books to read, so there is a wide variety of subjects; some fiction, some non-fiction. Christmas Brunch Dec. 8 Celebrate the Season at a Christmas Brunch on December 8th from 9am-11am at the Community Center in Ackerman. Christmas trees needed for Holiday Open House Christmas trees needed for Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 13 at the Choctaw County Library. We would like school groups, church groups, businesses and other organizations in the county to decorate Christmas trees. Each group is responsible for securing their own tree, live or artificial. We ask that no food items or glitter be used in decorations. Trees must be up by December 12 at noon. A Peoples’ Choice Award will be given again this year.
